Q Care Customer Service Training Program
The new Oregon Quality Care (Q Care) Customer Service Training Program (Q = Quality) is a statewide customer service training certification program created to support the development of the Tourism & Hospitality Industry through enhanced guest experiences. Initially launched during the 2003-05 biennium, the initial Q Program was implemented in all seven designated regions, with approximately 9,000 people Q certified between September 2004 and March 2007. The Q provides statewide standardized customer service training, emphasizes the importance of quality customer service in the Tourism & Hospitality Industry, and equips Oregon employees with tools and resources needed to better serve our visitors.
This new training program is available, free of charge, 24/7 through the internet, to anyone in the tourism and hospitality industry in Oregon. The new program offers many of the same customer service points used in the "It Pays to Please" curriculum from the earlier Q customer service program, but also contains many other new features which will bring a fresh new look and feel to an age-old important topic. One new feature is the addition of a "tourism resource toolkit" so that anyone taking the Oregon "Q Care" Customer Service Training Program will be able to tap into local, regional and state-wide resources.
The new Oregon "Q Care" Customer Service Training Program will reinforce the previous Q Customer Service Training Program by:
- Expanding accessibility through Internet delivery (24/7)
- Offering valuable customer service training at no charge
- Conveying the value of tourism to Oregon residents
- Encouraging employment in the tourism industry
- Adding standards and training for behavior-based visitor contact skills
